Rupert Roth

Rupert Roth (born September 19, 1903 in Hitzendorf , † April 13, 1978 in Graz ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and administrative director. From 1949 to 1961 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

After elementary school, Roth attended a humanistic grammar school and then began studying law at the University of Graz , where he received his doctorate in July 1930. He graduated from the Consular Academy in Vienna .

He worked as an official in the Styrian state government and was an official in the Federal Chancellery. In April 1936, Roth was briefly secretary to Foreign Minister Egon Berger-Waldenegg . From a political point of view, Roth was executive secretary of the Fatherland Front in Carinthia from September 1936 and from March 1, 1938 in Styria during the authoritarian corporate state .

In 1938 he was discharged from civil service and became an employee of Julius Meinl AG in Vienna.

In the Second Republic he was a member of the regional management of ÖVP Styria and the regional management of the Austrian Economic Association of Styria. From 1946 to 1969 he was President of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce. He was Vice President of the Association of Austrian Industrialists of the Styrian Regional Group.

He represented the ÖVP between November 8, 1949 and April 15, 1961 in the National Council.

From 1949 Roth was director of the Austrian Alpine Mining Company in Leoben-Donawitz , and from 1964 to 1968 he was director general.

Since 1948 he was an honorary member of the Catholic student association KÖStV Babenberg Graz in the ÖCV .
