The Rush River is a tributary of the Minnesota River and runs entirely in Sibley County in the US state of Minnesota , but its hydrological catchment area also includes parts of Nicollet and McLeod Counties .

The Rush River begins at the confluence of its central and northern source rivers, approximately at 94.1 ° west longitude and 44.5 ° north latitude. From this point it flows mainly in an easterly direction, the southern source river flows out at about 94.0 ° west longitude and 44.5 ° north latitude. From this point it flows in an easterly direction to about 4.6 kilometers (2.9 miles) north-northeast of Le Sueur (Minnesota) , at its confluence with the Minnesota River to the mouth in, from here to the Northeast Mississippi River flows .

Northern branch of the Rush River

The northern branch of the Rush River is fed by Titlow Lake and flows southeast to the confluence of the central branch of the Rush River about 12.5 km (7.8 miles) southeast of Gaylord, Minnesota , where the actual Rush River begins.

Middle branch of the Rush River

The middle branch of the Rush River has its source near Gibbon, Minnesota and flows directly east from the source to the junction with the Northern Branch.

Southern branch of the Rush River

The southern branch of the Rush River rises between Winthrop and Lafayette , just over 16 km (10 miles) west-southwest of Gaylord near the border between Sibley and Nicollet Counties, and flows from there in an east-northeast direction to the confluence with the Rush River .
