Winthrop is a city in Sibley County in Minnesota in the United States . In 2000 the city had 1,367 inhabitants.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has an area of 2.7 km² , all of which is land. The South Branch Rush River has its origin near Winthrops.
Two of the main roads through the city are Minnesota State Route 15 and 19 .
