Rusko

Rusko (real name Christopher Mercer ; born January 26, 1985 in Leeds , West Yorkshire , England ) is a British dubstep producer and DJ.

Career

Rusko graduated from Leeds College of Music with a degree in music production. Influenced by the event "Sub Dub", founded in Leeds, and the nearby northern Digital Mystikz "DMZ" events, which both took place in the West Indian Center, Rusko moved to London to work with the record companies Sub Soldiers and Stingray Records.

Rusko began production in 2006 at Dub Police with the title SNES Dub . In 2007 he published with Sub Soldiers Babylon, Vol. 1.

Turning away from the darker side of dubstep, Rusko brought an upbeat sound to the scene. Rusko's particularly successful hit Cockney Thug was found on various DJ sets and mixes, including a. Pete Tong , Switch, MIA and Santigold . His music has also been mixed by other artists such as Buraka Som Sistema , Drop the Lime , Scratch Perverts , Sub Focus and Partner Caspa . Rusko also produced his own remixes of Adele and A-Trak featuring Kid Sister.

Rusko worked with MIA on the release of their third album Maya . His penultimate album is titled OMG and was released on Mad Decent Records on May 3, 2010 in the UK and May 4 in the US . Rusko started his first world tour after the release of the album OMG. The tour was fully booked in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and France. His current album is called Songs and contains 14 songs. Rusko also claimed he worked on songs with Rihanna and TI , and produced optional material for Britney Spear's upcoming album.

Rusko's house and production studio in Silverlake caught fire on November 8, 2010. However, he managed to save the hard drives of the studio computers. Rusko is married to Belinda Stampler.

In May 2017, Rusko announced that he had a rare form of stomach cancer (with good treatment prospects). In October 2017 he announced that he was cancer-free after several chemotherapy treatments.
