Russel W. Meyer Jr.

Russel W. "Russ" Meyer Jr. (* 1932 in Davenport , Iowa ) is an American businessman, lawyer and former fighter pilot . He was Chairman of the Board of the Cessna Aircraft Company from 1975 to 2003 . He has been the company's honorary chairman since 2005.

Life

In 1954 he received his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and his doctorate in 1961 from Harvard Law School . From 1958 to 1961 Meyer served as a fighter pilot with the United States Marine Corps and then practiced as a lawyer in Cleveland for five years . From 1966 he was CEO of the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation before moving to Cessna in 1974, where he also became CEO in 1975.

Meyer has been married to Helen Vaugn since 1960.
