Ruth Lange (singer)

Ruth Maria Lange (born January 18, 1915 in Rabenau near Dresden; † January 25, 2008 ) was a German opera singer with alto and mezzo-soprano voices .

Life

Lange received instrumental lessons in her childhood. Her vocal training took place in Dresden a. a. with Waldemar Staegemann . She graduated from the singing class of the Dresden State Orchestra .

At the age of 23 she made her debut in Das Christ-Elflein by Hans Pfitzner at the Vienna Volksoper . Further stations were the Karlsbad City Theater and the Teplitz-Schönau Theater from 1939 to 1941 , the Theater des Volkes (Dresden) from 1941 and, after the war, the Dresden State Opera (until 1975). After 1945 she had guest appearances at the Munich State Opera, in Egypt, in Finland and in the Soviet Union. From 1947/1948, Lange also appeared as a concert singer and interpreted songs. From this point on, she also took on dramatic roles.

Her first marriage was to the bass singer Richard Capellmann (1904–1972), and later to the Dresden conductor Wilhelm Huebner .

She last spoke in 1977 in Dresden for Madame Krone in The Acting Director of WA Mozart.
