Ruth Mader

Ruth Mader (born July 11, 1974 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film director , author and producer .

Life

Mader studied directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and then worked as an assistant director and in the casting department. Her film Gfrasta won the Max Ophüls Prize in the short film category in 1999. Her next short film Zero Deficit brought her an invitation to the 2001 Cannes Film Festival , where it was shown in the official selection of the Cinéfondation. Her first feature film Struggle was again included in the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival and premiered in 2003 in the “ Un Certain Regard ” category .

Her episodic documentary What Is Love was shown at the Berlinale 2012 , her second feature film Life Guidance was invited to the 2017 Venice International Film Festival in the section Giornate degli Autori .
