Rutpert III. (Upper Rhinegau)
Rutpert III. , also as Robert III. known (* probably around 781; † before 834), from the Rupertine dynasty was a count in Oberrheingau and Wormsgau and Vogt of the Hornbach monastery .
Life
Rutpert was the son of Count Rutpert II of the same name (Hruodbertus) († 807) and followed him as Count in Worms and Upper Rhinegau; as such it was first expressed in 812 at the Palatinate Court in Aachen . Rutpert was held in high esteem by Emperor Ludwig the Pious and was appointed by him in 825, together with Archbishop Haistulph of Mainz , to be the royal messenger in the Mainz district.
He married Wiltrud von Orléans (also Wialdruth, Wialdrudt, Waldrada) around 808 . As the heir to Count Hadrian von Orléans († 822) from the Geroldon family and his wife Waldrat from the Widonen family , she inherited valuable property in Orléans, which from 840 onwards served her son Robert the Brave as the basis for his rise in the West Franconian Empire .
Rutpert died in 834 at the latest; This year, a joint donation made by his widow and son Guntram to Lorsch Abbey for the salvation of his soul is recorded.
progeny
Rutpert and Wiltrud (* around 785) had the following children:
- Oda married Walaho IV , who became Count in Wormsgau after 840; the two probably became the first parents of the Salians .
- Guntram (815-837) was 834-837 Count in Wormsgau
- A daughter of unknown name married Megingoz I , who is attested as a count in Wormsgau in 876.
- Robert the Brave († 866), whose sons Odo and Robert became kings of western France .
