Rychnůvek

Rychnůvek , until 1948 Německý Rychnov (German German Reichenau , 1939–1945 German Reichenau near Haslach ), is a deserted area in Okres Český Krumlov , Czech Republic . It is located in the municipality of Přední Výtoň between the Vltava and the border with Austria in the Bohemian Forest .

history

In 1379 the place was first mentioned in the Rosenberger Urbar. In 1384 the church of St. Wenceslas was designated as a parish church, so that it can be assumed that it was founded much earlier. The village was on the Goldener Steig salt trade route from Haslach in Austria to Friedberg . The village originally belonged to rule Wittingshausen and was with this end of the 15th century by the Lords of Rosenberg the rule Krumlov incorporated. German Reichenau and the parish villages formed the so-called German court . From 1622 the village belonged to the princes of Eggenberg . In 1673 the church was rebuilt. From 1719 the princes of Schwarzenberg were the landlords.

In 1840 Teutsch-Reichenau or Richnow consisted of 29 houses with 243 German-speaking residents. The Dechantkirche of St. Wenceslaus and the school. There was also a mill in the village. The beetle mill lay apart. The residents made their living from linen weaving, bleaching and trading. Teutsch-Reichenau was the parish for Asang ( Jasánky ), Bernek ( Pernek ), Muckenschlag ( Mukenslag ), Multerberg ( Mezilesí ), Multerberger Waldhäuser ( Multerberské Chalupy ), Linden ( Linda ), Lindner Waldhäuser ( Lindské Chalupy ), Murau ( Murov ), Upper Markschlag ( Horní Hraničná ), Ottenschlag ( Otov ), Reiterschlag ( Pasečná ), Rosenau ( Rožnov ), Rose Hill ( Koranda ), St. Thomas , Unter Markschlag ( Dolní Hraničná ) and Uresch ( Horní Ureš ). Teutsch-Reichenau remained subject to the allodial rule of Krumlov until the middle of the 19th century .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed German Reichenau / Německý Rychnov in 1849 a district of the municipality Reiterschlag in the judicial district Hohenfurth . From 1868 the village belonged to the Kaplitz district . In 1910 Deutsch Reichenau consisted of 47 houses and had 326 inhabitants. In 1921, 294 people lived in the 46 houses in the village. In October 1938, as a result of the Munich Agreement , Deutsch Reichenau was added to the German Reich and initially belonged to the Kaplitz district . In 1939 the municipality of Reiterschlag was assigned to the Rohrbach district , German Reichenau received the addition near Haslach . Up to 1945 the parish of Deutsch Reichenau belonged to a total of 16 villages with around 2100 inhabitants.

After the end of World War II , Německý Rychnov came back to Czechoslovakia and was reassigned to the Okres Kaplice. Between April 25 and November 15, 1946, nearly 1,500 Germans were evacuated from the parish; three years later, the remaining 250 native Austrians moved to Austria. The place was only to a small extent repopulated with Czechs. In 1948 it was renamed Rychnůvek . In 1950 there were 62 people living in the village's 35 houses. In the same year the Reiterschlag community was abolished in the course of the establishment of the border zone; Rychnůvek was incorporated into Frymburk . Thereafter the parish became orphaned and became a restricted military area as part of the western border of the Warsaw Pact. All villages, with the exception of Svatý Tomáš , were destroyed. The area was later assigned to the much smaller neighboring municipality Přední Výtoň (Vorder Heuraffl).

The parish church of St. Wenceslas was initially not destroyed and continued to be used as a stable before it was blown up in the 1960s. After the fall of the Iron Curtain and the accession of the Czech Republic to the Schengen Agreement , the borders were opened and the area is a hiking area and part of the Šumava Nature Reserve.
