Sængerkrieg is the ninth studio album by the German medieval rock band In Extremo . It was released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on May 9, 2008. It is also the band's first album to reach the top of the German charts .

In May 2008 Sængerkrieg was released after the band had been out of studio for three years and was able to reach number one in the German album charts . The album stayed in the charts for 30 weeks, the longest time an In Extremo album has ever been in the German charts. In Austria, the highest place that the album could achieve in the local charts was 13th, in Switzerland it reached number 22.

In songs like Sängerkrieg, the album is clearly based on the Wartburg War (also known as the Sängerkrieg) and, as always, treats medieval depictions of love, struggles and celebrations.

The press reviews on Sængerkrieg were mixed.
"The" Singers' War "provides a tremendous variety and the perfect symbiosis of medieval sounds and hard rock.
