Severin Moisse
Séverin Joseph Moisse (born June 8, 1895 in Chastre , † September 3, 1961 in Montreal , Quebec ) was a Canadian pianist, composer and music teacher.
Moisse studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Arthur De Greef and Joseph Jongen and then taught in Charleroi, Gembloux, Brussels and Thuin. In 1926 he moved to Montreal and in 1931 became a Canadian citizen.
From 1930 to 1941 he was the pianist of the Montreal Orchestra . He has taught at the McGill Conservatory and the Conservatoire de musique du Québec . His students included Maurice Dela , Marcel Laurencelle and George Little . In addition, he often appeared in radio productions, especially in the series Les Joyeux Troubadours of the CBC (1941-45).
Moisse composed mainly piano works and songs .
