Süßkofen is a part of the municipality Mengkofen in the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality.

location

The typical Lower Bavarian street village of Süßkofen is located in the Danube-Isar hill country on the Aiterach about four kilometers west of Mengkofen.

history

Between 863 and 885, a Morenzo, with the permission of Bishop Ambrichos, gave the property of St. Emmeram monastery to Ottending to the noble tungsten, whereas this property in Süßkofen left to St. Emmeram.

The community of Süsskofen belonged to the district court of Pfaffenberg , which was renamed the district court of Mallersdorf in 1840 . After the establishment of the district offices, it was part of the district and finally the district of Mallersdorf . It consisted of the localities Susskofen, Hagenau and Pramersbuch. The most important place in the community was Hagenau, where the St. Leonhard Church is located. In addition to the school, the municipal administration was also located there.

With effect from January 1, 1970, as part of the regional reform in Bavaria, the parts of the municipality of Furth, Ginhart , Heinzleck and Rauheck of the dissolved municipality of Asbach were incorporated into the municipality of Süsskofen. On May 1, 1978, the community of Süßkofen was incorporated into the community of Mengkofen. Today the agricultural area of ​​Süßkofen is also home to some commercial operations.
