Südlengern is a district of the municipality of Kirchlengern in the Herford district , in the north-east of North Rhine-Westphalia . The Graubünden district of the same name, Südlengern , joins in the west . To distinguish between the two places, the district of Kirchlengerns is also called Südlengern-Dorf ; the Bünder district Südlengern-Heide . Until 1968, both parts formed a joint, independent municipality in the Herford district. In 1969 the old community was divided between Bünde and Kirchlengern as part of the local government reform.
location
In the north, the Else river borders the district. In the west, Südlengern-Dorf borders on Bünde-Südlengern , in the east on Kirchlengern , in the south on Hiddenhausen-Eilshausen . The Reesberg lies in the south of Südlengern-Dorf . The Elseaue is designated as a nature reserve.
history
Südlengern was founded in the 12th century. Until the municipal reorganization in 1969, Südlengern was an independent municipality. Both Südlengern-Dorf and Südlengern-Heide belonged to this community. On January 1, 1969, the municipality was divided between Bünde and Kirchlengern.

The Evangelical Lutheran Luther Church, together with the Reconciliation Church in Bünde-Südlengern and other churches in Bünde, has been part of the parish ev.-luth since 2007 . Lydia parish assigned to Bünde . One focus of the work of the Evangelical Youth South Lengern is (among other things, in addition to various young groups ) a group of music-related Christian youth work Ten Sing .
Regular events
The well-attended fire brigade festival Südlengern takes place in Südlengern-Dorf every year, attracting audiences from all over Bünde and Kirchlengern.

The General Manager of the Federal Association of German Employers' Associations ( BDA ) and former Member of the Bundestag Dr. Reinhard Göhner lives in southern Lengern.
