The SŽD series ОПЭ1 (German transcription OPE1 ) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) is a work device for the construction and clearing of superstructures on discharge lines in opencast mines . It is intended to work on both electrified and non-electrified sections and was made on the basis of the ВЛ80 and M 62 . In addition, it has a motor unit, worked out as a dump truck on rails. The equipment of the units is designed for use in the voltage range in the contact network from 7.5 kV to 11.6 kV.

history

In 1957, the first rail-bound overburden device was used in an opencast mine in Chelyabinsk Oblast , which consisted of the IV-КП (IV-KP) electric locomotive and a ВС-50 ( WS-50 ) dump truck that had been converted from a road dump truck . By increasing the load-bearing capacity of the rails in the opencast mines, the weight of the transport unit could be increased. Therefore, at the same time as the LEW EL 10 was ordered from LEW, work on its own project in the USSR began . The work was supported by Gesamtrussischem scientific research and development institute for electric locomotives ( ВЭлНИИ - WELNII in) Novocherkassk , the electric locomotive factory Dnipropetrovsk and wagon factory Dniprodzerzhynsk performed. Originally the drive of the unit consisted of a diesel electric locomotive and two dump trucks. The testing of the unit EL 10 showed that the performance of the diesel unit with 750 HP was too low. Considering the weight restrictions, it was decided to create a separate section with a diesel engine and reduce the number of dump trucks to one. The vehicle thus consisted of a two-section locomotive (one section electric locomotive, the other diesel locomotive ) and a motor dump truck. The total mass is 360 t. In 1964 the project was ended.

In 1969 the Novotscherkassk electric locomotive factory delivered the first two power units , which were given the designation ОПЭ1.001 / 002 ( OPE1.001 / 002 ). These first two units still consisted of two sections without a dump truck. The dump trucks were manufactured in the Dniprodzerzhynsk wagon factory and were delivered from 1975. Since then, the units have been delivered as three-section units. The production of the aggregates ran until 2001, 424 copies were made.

The power unit ОПЭ1 ( OPE1 ) consists of the following sections:

  • an electric locomotive section ( E ) based on the design of a section of the ВЛ80 . The section also has only one driver's cab and has the traction transformer, the rectifier unit and the pantograph ;
  • Section with autonomous power source ( T ); this is also housed in the locomotive body of the ВЛ80 and has the diesel generator unit of the M 62 as a power source ;
  • an engine section ( M ), a dump truck from the Dniprodzerzhynsk wagon factory, could be used to transport overburden, but it has bogies with traction motors.

The electric locomotive section, the diesel locomotive section and the motor section each have two-axle powered bogies, so the total number of traction motors is 12.

The unit can work on sections of railway lines with slopes of up to 60 ‰. The conditions for operation are that the operating altitude is not higher than 1200 m above sea level , the temperature in the surrounding area is in the range of −50 ° C to +40 ° C, and the relative humidity is not higher than 90% at 20 ° C is. Since the axle load of the entire unit is 30 t, it is not possible to transport the power unit on the tracks of the state railway. The transport of the power unit ОПЭ1 from the manufacturer or the repair shop to the opencast mine and back is carried out with special bogies without traction motors. For comparison it must be mentioned that the axle load of the ВЛ80 is 23 t.

The following brakes are used on the locomotives; the pneumatic brake (automatic train and auxiliary brake ( direct brake )), the electric brake and the handbrake as a parking brake. The combination of sections E and T is only possible on the sides without a cabin. The motor section M can only be dispatched behind the sections E and T.

The following configurations are possible when driving:

  • Use of all three sections (electric locomotive, diesel locomotive and motor dump truck). The electric locomotive section is used to drive on electrified sections, the diesel locomotive can support the electric locomotive and is used to drive on non-electrified lines. The traction and braking management takes place via all twelve traction drive motors;
  • Work with two sections (electric locomotive and diesel locomotive without motor dump truck). The traction and braking energy management is carried out in the same way as when working with three sections, but only via eight traction drive motors;
  • Work with a section (diesel locomotive without electric locomotive and without dump truck).

In addition, the unit could also be supplied as an electric locomotive drive with two motor units without a diesel section. This allows the superstructure to be machined on electrified sections with gradients of up to 60 ‰.
