SI Newhouse junior

Samuel Irving (called Si ) Newhouse ( November 8, 1927 - October 1, 2017 ) was an American publisher and philanthropist .

Life

Newhouse shared the management of Advance Publications , the largest privately owned media group in the United States, with his brother Donald Newhouse and was a director of Condé Nast Publications , which publish GQ , Vogue and Vanity Fair , among others .

Forbes led Newhouse in March 2017 with a personal fortune of 12.1 billion US dollars , which he was ranked 109 of the richest people in the world.

Newhouse was also an art collector; he was a previous owner of the most expensive painting in the world : Jackson Pollock's action painting, entitled No. 5, 1948 from 1948. He was also the owner of Piet Mondrian 's last painting Victory Boogie Woogie until 1997 , which has since been part of the collection of the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag .
