The SC Rhein-Ahr Sinzig is a German football club from Sinzig . The association was founded in 1910.

Founding history

At the inauguration of the Rhein-Ahr Stadium in 1964, the Japanese national team played against a team from the Rhineland, where Karl-Josef Lessnig and Heinrich Schlebusch from the club played.

In 1968 the club played for the German amateur championship, where they lost to Reutlingen. In 1970 the club won the Rhineland Championship again and played in the DFB Cup again. In 1975 the club was relegated to the district league, and two years later made it back to the first amateur league. In 1980 they were relegated to the regional league.

In 1984 the team was relegated to the district league A, two years later even to the B class. The referee Edgar Steinborn , however, made the leap into the Bundesliga in 1988 . In 1993 the new board member was named Jürgen Glück, who resigned from office for health reasons in 2008 after 15 years of activity within the association. In November 2007 Karl-Heinz Walser was elected to the new board. In the 2008/09 season, the club rose to the A class despite the missed championship. The club was second behind Grafschafter SV .
