SIMH is an emulator of the Computer History Simulation Project for the hardware of older mainframes , mini-computers and historical home computers . The aim of the project is to continue to provide an environment for older software , even if the original hardware is no longer available. It is also used to run operating systems such as OpenVMS , RSTS , RSX-11 , RT-11 , TOPS-10 or TOPS-20 on PCs .
