SK Chaos Mannheim
The SK chaos Mannheim is a chess club in Mannheim , the women's team in the first and second early 2000s Schachbundesliga been eligible to play. The best known club members are the musicians of the Finnish band HIM .
The club was founded in 1987 by several youths and juniors from various Mannheim chess clubs. After there were initially problems with the club's name and the club had to operate under the name of SK Chaosso Mannheim (to soften the chaos and based on the chess goddess Caissa ), it was accepted into the Baden Chess Association in 1988. Since then, the men's team has been playing in medium-sized chess leagues in the Mannheim chess district.
The club recorded its greatest sporting successes through its women's team, which rose from the second Bundesliga in 2003 and entered the first women's Bundesliga in the 2003/04 season. The team included the multiple French women's champion Sophie Milliet , the GDR champion of 1974, 1976 and 1977 Petra Feibert (née Feustel), the Olympic participant and German champion from 1968 and 1975 Ursula Wasnetsky and the U10 world champion from 2002 Lara Stock . Although Chaos Mannheim was the penultimate one in a relegation place, the withdrawal of two clubs still enabled relegation. The 2004/05 season ended the club in last place and had to relegate to the second division. In addition to Lara Stock and Ursula Wasnetsky, this season also included the international women's champion Olena Hess . After the 2005/06 season, which ended Chaos Mannheim in Group 1 of the 2nd Women's Bundesliga as second behind SV Wolfbusch , the women's team withdrew from the game.
The amateur club also caused a national sensation through its members Ville Valo , Janne Johannes Purttinen and Mikko Heinrik Julius Paananen, who together form the Finnish dark rock band HIM . Until 2007, the German singer and actress Vaile was also a member of the club. The artists advertise the game of chess at various chess events , for example at the Chess Classic in Mainz, or in smaller groups at club evenings in Mannheim.
