Sophie Milliet (born November 2, 1983 in Marseille ) is a French chess player .

Sophie Milliet grew up in Castelnau-le-Lez . She learned to play chess at the age of four.

successes

She was French women's individual champion in 2003 in Aix-les-Bains , at the championships in 2004 and 2005 (in Chartres ) she was second behind Almira Scripcenco . At the Open Swiss Individual Championship in July 2006 in Lenzerheide , she was third. In August 2007 she was tied for second behind Silvia Collas at the French women's championship . In 2008 in Pau she won the French women's title for the second time, which she successfully defended in Nîmes in 2009 . She won her fourth French women's championship in 2011 in Caen , and in 2016 she won her fifth women's title in Agen , which she successfully defended in 2017, also in Agen.

In 2002 she reached second place at the Mitropa Cup women in Saint-Vincent with France, at the Mitropa Cup 2011 in Merlimont she played with France's second team in open competition. She also took part in six Chess Olympiads with the women's national team: 2004 on the first reserve board, 2006 on the third, 2008 on the fourth, 2010 , 2012 , 2014 on the second board, 2016 on the first and 2018 on the fourth board with a total score of 50.5 points from 74 games (+39 = 23 −12). Sophie Milliet took part in the women's team championship in 2013 and in eight women's European team championships from 2003 to 2017 and received a bronze medal in Novi Sad in 2009 for her result of 5 out of 7 on the second board.

In the women's Bundesliga she played for SK Chaos Mannheim in the 2003/04 season and for the Karlsruhe Chess Friends in the 2004/05 season . Since the 2014/15 season she has been playing for SK Schwäbisch Hall , with which she won the title in 2017 . In France she played for Montpellier Echecs until 2002 , then for the Club de Bischwiller until 2005 , moving to Clichy Echecs , 2007 to Montpellier Echecs and 2009 to Évry Grand Roque . Milliet has been playing for Grasse Echecs since 2019 . With Clichy she won both the French team championship and the French women's team championship in the 2006/07 season , with Évry Sophie Milliet was French team champion in 2009 and French women's team champion in 2011 , 2013 and 2016 . In the Swiss National League A she played for SG Biel in the 2007 season and in the Swiss 1st Bundesliga for Valais . With Valais she was team champion in the 2009/10 season . In the British 4NCL Sophie Milliet played in the 2010/11 season for the champions Pride & Prejudice ; in the 2013/14 season she played for 3Cs , since the 2014/15 season for the first and second team of Guildford A&DC ; with the first team she won the competition in 2015, 2016 , 2017 , 2018 and 2019 . She has also played in the Spanish (for Escola d'Escacs de Barcelona ) and Catalan championships.

Milliet has held the title of International Women's Champion (WIM) since 2002 and has been the Women's Grand Master (WGM) since 2004 . She achieved the norms for her WGM title in July 2003 at the 11th International Open in Saint-Affrique as well as at the French women's individual championships in August 2003 in Aix-les-Bains and in August 2004 in Val-d'Isère . Since March 2009 she has also held the title of International Master (IM). She achieved the standards for this at the French team championship in 2005 , at the Swiss individual championship in 2006 in Lenzerheide and at the 29th Open in Béthune . In February 2015, Milliet was third in the French women's Elo ranking, behind Marie Sebag and Almira Scripcenco. Her highest position in the FIDE women's world rankings was 44th in July 2007.
