Lara Antonia Sofie Stock (born May 26, 1992 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a Croatian- German chess player .

Life

Lara Stock, whose mother is Croatian , lives in Freiburg im Breisgau . Her grandfather is Friedrich A. Stock , former Vice President and honorary member of the German Chess Federation . Because of a dispute between her father and the German Chess Youth , she played the World and European Youth Championships for Croatia .

She was third in the German U10 female youth championship in Überlingen . In 2002 (the same year in which Elisabeth Pähtz won the title among girls under 18) she became world champion among girls under ten in Heraklion . Two years later she won the European Youth Championship U12 women in Urgup .

During her active time she was trained by Philipp Schlosser and Ognjen Cvitan (Croatia). In 2006 she became International Champion (WIM) of the World Chess Federation FIDE . She achieved the standards for this in July 2005 at the International Chess Festival in Biel / Bienne , in January 2006 at the Caissa IM tournament in Kecskemét and in May 2006 at the 8th Dubai Open in Dubai . Since November 2008 she has held the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM). The two WIM standards from Biel / Bienne and Dubai were also considered to be WGM standards; they achieved the third standard at the 9th International Festival in Trieste in September 2007 .

In the women's first division, Stock played for SK Chaos Mannheim from 2003 to 2005 and for Hamburg SK in the 2006/07 season . Already in the 2002/03 season she was registered in the women's national league at SC Baden-Oos , with whom she rose to the first women's national league a year earlier, but she was not used. Lara Stock is a member of SC Emmendingen 1937 eV She last played in the Freiburg Association Round in 2007/08 and has not played an evaluated game since 2008. With the Croatian women's team, she took part in the 2006 Chess Olympiad in Turin .

Lara Stock's current and so far highest Elo rating is 2346 (unchanged since January 2008).
