Jessica Schmidt (born as Jessica Nill, born October 11, 1979 in Hainburg - Hainstadt ) is a German chess player .

Life

She learned to play chess from her father. Her brother Oliver (* 1982) is also a strong chess player (best rating : 2255). She studied electrical engineering at the TU Darmstadt . She has been married since 2010.

Chess successes

She won German championships for women in 1994 (U15) in Dorfen, 1995 (U17) in Wurmannsquick and 1996 (U17) in Kerkwitz. 1995 at the European Youth Championships U16 female in Żagań she was tenth. She won the Hessian women's individual championship in 1995 in Hofheim am Taunus , 1996 in Hofbieber and 1997 in Frankfurt-Bergen-Enkheim . In 2000 she was third in the women's world championship of the FISU University Association in Varna . In 2001 in Krefeld she became the German women's champion . In 2011 she won the German women's individual championship in blitz chess in Gladenbach .

In November 2000 she received the title of International Women's Champion (WIM). Since September 2006 she has held the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM). She achieved the standards for this at a WGM tournament in Krk in 2004, as well as at the European Women's Team Championship in Gothenburg in 2005 and at the 7th European Women's Championship in 2006 in Kuşadası . The Badische rapid chess championship of the women she won in 2008 in Heidelberg - Handschuhsheim with 1.5 points ahead.

With the German national team she took part in the European Women's Team Championships in 2001, 2003 and 2005, where she received an individual gold medal in Gothenburg in 2005 for her result of 6 points from 8 games on the third board. She played in 2004 and 2006 at the Chess Olympiads of women for Germany. In 2007 she fought on board three of the German national team at the women's chess team championships in Yekaterinburg .

Her first club was the Hessian SC Hainstadt , then she moved to VSG Offenbach . From 1998 she played for SC Baden-Oos , with whom she was women's team champion in the 2002/03 , 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons . Since the 2007/08 season she has been playing for the Karlsruher Schachfreunde (for whom she appeared as a guest player in the women's Bundesliga in the 1999/2000 season) in the 2nd Bundesliga South and the Oberliga Baden as well as in the women's 1st and 2nd division Women's Bundesliga. Jessica Schmidt plays in France with the Cercle d'Echecs de Strasbourg .
