SK Palamedes

The SK Palamedes was a chess club from Hamburg . It was founded by former members of the East Berlin BSG Motor Wilhelmsruh , who used a competition with the Hamburg SK after the uprising on June 17 to stay in Hamburg.

The SK Palamedes was one of the strongest Hamburg clubs and took part four times ( 1961 , 1963 , 1964 and 1965 ) in the finals of the German team championship . In 1967 he joined forces with the chess department of the SC Concordia von 1907 eV , which then took over as SC Concordia Palamedes .

Well-known players of the club were among others the national champions of the German Chess Federation Christian Clemens and the later physics professor Werner Pesch , as well as the international correspondence chess master Harm Cording .
