The railcar SNB MB 1 was procured by A / S Svendborg – Nyborg Jernbaneselskab (SNB) for operation on the Danish private railway line Svendborg – Nyborg , which opened in 1897 .

history

For passenger transport on the route between Svendborg and Nyborg , the company acquired a four-axle railcar with two bogies in 1926 in order to save on locomotive-driven trains . The supplier was the Danish locomotive factory Scandia A / S in Randers , the vehicle had order number 2067.

Technical Equipment

The railcar had a mechanical four-speed gearbox. It was equipped with an air brake. During the Second World War from 1941 to 1945 he received a gas generator . In 1947 it was shut down due to a broken crankshaft .

DSB MBF (I) 481

Since the Svendborg – Nyborg railway line was leased to Sydfyenske Jernbaner (SFJ) in 1902 , the vehicles have been maintained and used by the SFJ.

With the takeover of Sydfyenske Jernbaner on April 1, 1949 by Danske Statsbaner (DSB), the SNB vehicles were transferred to the state railways for use. However, the railcar remained in the possession of the SNB and did not become the property of the state railways. He received the series designation MBF (I) and the road number 481.

It was modernized at Scandia in 1949 and was in service in Fåborg from 1952 to 1955. His retirement from SFJ / SNB took place in 1957.

There the railcar was designated with the number RHJ M 3 . It received a six-cylinder Hercules diesel engine and a new mechanical transmission. Around 1960 the interior was converted, which afterwards had only 69 seats and 5 folding seats in addition to a mail compartment.

The railcar was retired and scrapped in 1969.
