SOFIM 8140 engine

SOFIM 8140 is the name for a series of diesel engines by the manufacturer SOFIM , which were produced from 1977 to 2006. The engines covered a displacement range from around 2.0 to 2.8 liters and were mainly used in commercial vehicles , but also in cars from various automobile manufacturers around the world.

8140 (2.0 liters)

The 8140 was produced as the first version from 1977; With a displacement of 2.0 liters (1995 cm³) it delivered 44 kW (60 hp) and was used in the Fiat 131 CL Diesel 2000 from 1978 .

8140.x1 (2.4 liters)

The 8140.x1 has a displacement of 2.4 liters (2445 cm³) with a bore of 93 mm and a stroke of 90 mm.

8140.61 / 8144.61

The 8140.61 / 8144.61 was a naturally aspirated engine of Renault called S8U-730 or S8U-731 in two different versions:

A 49 kW (67 hp) at 3800 min -1 with mechanical vortex chamber injection of Bosch in following cars:

In 1990 the engine was revised; he 51 kW (69 hp) at 3900 min -1 and was designated S8U-720 or S8U-722 .

The 8140.21 and 8144.21 are modified versions of the 8140.61 / 8144.61 with turbocharger and direct injection , but without a charge air cooler . The power is 70 kW (95 hp) at 4100 min -1 . Max. Torque 215 Nm at 2200 min -1 . It can be found - partly under the designation S8U-750  - in the following cars:

8144.81

A turbo version of the 8140 with swirl chamber injection and 66 kW (90 hp) output was installed in the Fiat Argenta turbodiesel from 1983 to 1985 .

8144.91

An engine identical to the 8144.81, but with a charge air cooler and 74 kW (101 hp) output, was used in the following vehicles:

8140.x7 (2.5 liters)

The 8140.x7 has an enlarged stroke of 92 mm and thus a displacement of 2499 cm³.

8140.07

As a naturally aspirated engine with direct injection and 55 kW (75 hp) at 4200 min -1 power, he was installed in:
