SV Viktoria Herxheim (officially: Sportverein Viktoria Herxheim 1913 eV ) is a sports club from Herxheim in the district of Südliche Weinstrasse . The first soccer team played for six years in the then third-class Oberliga Südwest and once took part in the DFB Cup .
history
The association was founded on February 13, 1913 as FV Viktoria Herxheim in what was then the clubhouse at Zum Rheinischer Hof . Otto Koog was elected as the first chairman. In 1922 Viktoria merged with the Herxheim game association, which had been founded two years earlier, to form SV Viktoria Herxheim . After three championships between 1920 and 1923, the young club managed to establish itself in the district league. While the local schoolyard was still used as a sports facility in the early years, a soccer field was soon created on the Krönungsbusch. The modern stadium as well as the club house of the club are located here today.
In sporting terms, Viktoria was one of the founding members of the 2nd Amateur League in the Vorderpfalz in 1952 . There the team was runner-up in 1964 and 1972, before the Viktoria 1975 champions of the now regional league Vorderpfalz called league. After a fifth place in the 1976/77 season , the Herxheimer missed the qualification for the newly created Oberliga Südwest a year later. This was made up in 1979 as champions of the Association League Southwest . Viktoria stayed in the league for two years before relegation followed in 1981 as bottom of the table. The team conceded 111 goals.
In 1987, the Herxheimers rose to the Oberliga Südwest thanks to the better goal difference compared to Phoenix Bellheim . As with the first promotion, he was relegated to the association league after two years. The third promotion to the league succeeded in 1991. At the same time, Viktoria won the Southwest Cup and qualified for the DFB Cup. There, the team met in the first round to FC St. Pauli and lost only after extension with 4: 2. In the major league season 1991/92 the Viktoria reached rank 13, before relegation followed a year later. At the end of the season, Viktoria had the worse goal difference compared to VfL Hamm / Sieg and the amateurs of FC 08 Homburg . Back in the association league, the team initially belonged to the top teams before they fell back into mediocrity. Since relegation in 2007, Viktoria has been playing in the Southwest East Regional League .
