Saša Babić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Саша Бабић ; born October 31, 1965 in Crvenka , Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian handball player and today's coach . The native Yugoslav who was mainly used in the left back space played for TSV GWD Minden in the 2nd Bundesliga .

Career

Babić began playing handball in his hometown at RK Crvenka . With the club he won the Yugoslav Cup in 1988. In the European Cup Winners' Cup 1988/89 they failed in the following season in the quarter-finals against the French representative US Créteil HB . Babić joined RK Proleter Zrenjanin , was able to celebrate the championship title in his first season and was in the final of the IHF Cup , where SKIF Krasnodar from the Soviet Union was defeated. A year later he was again in a European cup final. In the European Cup , Zrenjanin had to admit defeat to FC Barcelona with one goal difference . He then moved to the 2nd handball Bundesliga for TSV GWD Minden. After he had received death threats according to his own statements, he moved back to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to RK Vojvodina from Novi Sad in 1993 . He later played for the Slovenian club RD Izola and RK Potisje Ada .

In 1998, Babić began his coaching career in Ada . After RK Vojvodina and RK Železničar Inđija , he coached the Bosnian-Herzegovinian club RK Prijedor in the 2002/03 season . This was followed by the stations RK Mladost Vršac , again RK Prijedor and RK Bor-RTB . Since 2017 he has been responsible for the Serbian association RK Apatin .

For the Yugoslav national team he played 20 internationals in which he scored 17 goals.
