Saadcore is the second solo album by the Bremen rapper Baba Saad . It was published on March 21, 2008 on the ersguterjunge label . Originally, Saadcore should have appeared in the fall of 2007 under the title The Godfather . However, for legal reasons, the title had to be changed, which resulted in a postponed publication.

Since December 2012 the album can no longer be sold to young people under the age of 18. The Federal Inspectorate for Media Harmful to Young Persons , which is responsible for indexing , gives the reason that it contains misogynistic texts.

illustration

The cover of the normal version shows a microphone . Several cables are wrapped around this, which become barbed wire from halfway through the cover. There is a bear trap under the microphone . Underneath is the lettering of the album. At the top left is the Saad logo. All lettering on the cover is in green. The background is a wall in a greenish tone. The cover of the Premium Edition has a similar structure. However, the microphone is bigger and more central. There is no trap in the picture. The wall here is colored rather greyish, which affects the entire picture.

Guest Posts

In addition to Saad, there are five different artists on the normal edition. The rapper Bushido is represented three times (on Drei , La Familia and Regen ). The song Drei also features rapper D-Bo, who was under contract with ersguterjunge at the time Saadcore was released. At La Familia , Kay One can be heard alongside Saad and Bushido. On the song Kopf durch die Wand , Saad is supported by the Bremen rapper JokA , who was already featured on Saad's debut album Das Leben ist Saad . In addition, the singer Ado on Show me your friends is represented with a vocal part. There are two more features on the Premium Edition. Saad's label partner Nyze is represented on Air Force One . Bizzy Montana, also under contract with ersguterjunge, is also on the song What do you want to do? on board.

Producers

A total of ten different producers were involved in the album production. The main producer was ex-ersguterjunge producer Screwaholic. He produced eight tracks on the album. He was also responsible for the remix of Das Leben ist so , which appeared on the Premium Edition. Another track was produced by Bushido. Benny Blanco contributed three tracks to Saadcore . Milan Martelli , who produced two more tracks, appears as a further producer . Kingsize and Decay are also involved as producers with two contributions each on the album. Bizzy Montana, who is also on the album as a rapper, is another producer featured on Saadcore . Raf Camora was also involved as a producer on the CD. In addition, the producer Crada accompanied the album with two musical works.

resonance

success

Saadcore entered the German album charts at number nine . The sound carrier reached positions 44, 65 and 87 in the top 100 in the next three weeks. Thus, the album could not stay in the charts as long as its predecessor, Das Leben ist Saad , but achieved the better starting position. In Switzerland, the album reached positions 49 and 98. In the Austrian charts, the album reached number 63 in the first week of sales. After that, Saadcore could no longer place itself in the top 100.

criticism

The majority of the media rated the album as disappointing and mostly rated it worse than its predecessor. laut.de rated the album with only one of a possible five stars. The author criticized the texts, which he mostly considered boring and primitive, as well as the overestimation of himself by the Bremen rapper. Only the song Das Leben ist so could convince. Only the majority of the music is rated positively.

rappers.in rated the album with two of a possible six mics:

“Saad's second solo album is a lot less than its predecessor. The topic corresponds to what one expects from Ersguterjunge and leaves little room for variety. It is precisely tracks like "Das Leben ist so" that break out of the habit and that is one of the reasons why they are so convincing. If several tracks of this kind had been represented on "Saadcore", the LP would certainly have been more than just a muddle of phrases. As it is, though, it is well produced, but absolutely monotonous and largely poor quality. "

Mycitylive.de also criticized the lack of content on the album. Saadcore is an extremely monotonous album that mostly deals with the same topics and is mostly very primitive. The music was positively highlighted, but it doesn't go with Saad's raps. Here, too, Life is so called the highlight of the album.

rap4fame.de rated the album with 2.5 out of a possible five points:

“The album only has beats that are on top and a Saad who can convince on every beat and easily asserts itself against its features, even if the track with Joka is pretty balanced in terms of the skills of the two. The voice alone could still be a problem for many. I like her! What else should I say here? Saad has definitely convinced me, really "Saadcore"! "

- Excerpt from the review of rap4fame.de

Saadcore is a musically dull and lyrically dull album that is no fun. Saad wants to provoke Bushido like his role model, but is ridiculed by many members of the scene as a "victim" at best. Conceptually, the pieces seem torn because the original concept of the godfather was not thought through to the end. If there weren't any support here and there from Germany's only platinum rapper along with a label attachment ("Regen", "Drei", "La Familia") - "Saadcore" would be an even poorer event than it already is.
