Sabine Collmer

Sabine Collmer (* 1962 ; † 2014 ) was a German sociologist specializing in military sociology .

Life

Collmer studied sociology , psychology and ethnology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (graduate sociologist). In 1988 she became active in the women's academy in Munich . From 1992 she was a research assistant at the Social Science Institute of the Bundeswehr (SOWI) in Munich and later Strausberg. In 1995 she became a student of Gerald L. Eberlein at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the Technical University of Munich with the dissertation Women and Men at the Computer. Aspects of gender-specific technology acquisition for Dr. phil. PhD.

She then worked at the Technical University of Berlin and the Center for Technology and Society . From 1999 to 2005 she was a lecturer at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich . Then she was Professor of International Security Studies at the German-American Study Center George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies . She was also head of the research department at the Institute for Security and Defense Policy there.

From 2000 she was Vice President of the Working Group on the Military and Social Sciences (AMS). It is also present in international military sociological associations. In 2010 she was a Fellow at the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society (IUS) in Chicago, Illinois. Collmer was the author and editor of numerous books.
