Sabine Lange (writer)

Sabine Lange (born June 20, 1953 in Stralsund ) is a German writer and editor.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1971, she studied pedagogy (mathematics and geography) at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald from 1971 to 1975 , from 1976 to 1978 in distance learning music (piano) at the Rostock Conservatory and from 1987 to 1990 also in distance learning Literature at the Leipzig Institute of Literature . She worked as a teacher for mathematics and piano and was active as a folklore researcher in Neustrelitz. From 1984 to 1999 she was archivist of the Fallada estate in the Hans Fallada archive in Feldberg. In 2001 she took part in the XXV. Conference of the German Studies Association in Washington DC with a lecture on Fallada inheritance in the GDR and began in 2002 on behalf of the LStU in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with the processing of the stasis entanglements around the Fallada estate. In 2004 she founded the International Fallada Forum, the Fallada Conferences and others together with the writer Werner Liersch and other critical Fallada researchers. a. in the AdK Berlin, Regina (Canada) and Dublin.

Sabine Lange has published several books and various essays on Hans Fallada and writes poetry. From 2004 to 2011 she was a member of the Association of German Writers and has been a member of the Federal Republic of Germany's circle of authors since 2007 . Sabine Lange has been a member of the PEN Center Germany since 2013.

Sabine Lange has a daughter.

Honors

  • 1966 Prize winner at the 1st Chamber Music Meeting of the GDR in Leipzig as the piano trio "Frick"
  • 1989 Special prize of the Kulturbund "Man and his landscape" for excerpts from "Diaries of an archivist"
  • 1995 nomination for the "Alfred Gesswein Literature Prize" for poetry
  • 1995 working scholarship in the Baltic Center of Writers and Translators in Visby / Sweden
  • 2003 Artist grant from the Ministry for Education, Science and Culture Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for "Diaries of an archivist"
  • 2008 nomination for the Hans Fallada Prize Neumünster for the novel "Schlüsselbund"
  • 2011 nomination of the screenplay “Die Archivarin” (as co-author with Jörg Gfrörer) for the German Screenplay Award.
  • 2012 Cultural film funding from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the script “Der Himmel über Wanzka”.
