The Steffen Verlag was founded in 2001 by Sven Steffen in Friedland , Mecklenburg . His publications have been awarded the Daniel Sanders Culture Prize and the Annalize Wagner Literature Prize. In 2012 the publisher opened an office in Berlin .

Federchen Verlag, founded in 1993 with fiction and secondary literature on Hans Fallada , Brigitte Reimann and other authors, joined Steffen Verlag in 2009, which has been running the imprint edition federchen since the merger .

Steffen Verlag publishes works by Hans Fallada , Theodor Fontane , Rainer Maria Rilke , Kurt Tucholsky , Franz Kafka , Joachim Ringelnatz , Martin Luther , Fritz Reuter , Wilhelm Busch , Eva Strittmatter , Peter Tille and Uwe Saeger , among others .

The publisher's regular program includes bibliophile gift books, fiction, travel guides, non-fiction and regional literature .

Many of the titles are also published as e-books .
