Sabine Panzram

Sabine Panzram (* 1970 in Krefeld ) is a German ancient historian .

Sabine Panzram studied history, German and Romance philology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the Universitat de Barcelona from 1989 to 1996 and graduated with the first state examination. In 2001 she received her doctorate from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster with a thesis on the cityscape and elite: Tarraco, Corduba and Augusta Emerita between Republic and Late Antiquity , supervised by Johannes Hahn . Panzram worked as a research assistant in Münster until 2003, then in Hamburg until 2007; there she was employed for an unlimited period as a teacher for special tasks at the Seminar for Ancient History from 2008 to 2017. From 2010 to 2012 she led a project at the German Archaeological Institute Berlin / Madrid on “Religion and Politics in the dioecesis Hispaniarum . Hagiography in the context of urban rivalries (4th-7th centuries) ”. In 2013 she completed her habilitation at the University of Hamburg with a study on Christianity without a church. Her main research interests are the Iberian Peninsula and the “city” world in the Roman Empire, as well as Western Roman history in late antiquity (4th to 7th centuries), reception of antiquities in the 16th – 18th centuries.
