Sabit Hadžić

Sabit Hadžić (born August 7, 1957 in Sarajevo ; † March 3, 2018 in Antalya ) was a Bosnian-Herzegovinian basketball coach and player.

career

Hadžić played at KK Bosna Sarajevo under coach Bogdan Tanjević . In 1978, 1980 and 1983 they won the Yugoslav championship and 1978 and 1984 the cup competition. In 1979 he won the European championship with Bosna in Grenoble, France . In addition to Hadžić, Svetislav Pešić , Mirza Delibašić , Žarko Varajić and Ratko Radovanović belonged to the winning team, which defeated the Italian representative Pallacanestro Varese with 96:93 in the final . In March 1978 Hadžić had stood with KK Bosna in the final of the Korać Cup , but here they were inferior to Partizan Belgrade . With the Yugoslav national team he took part in the 1984 Summer Olympics and won bronze. Hadžić scored 3.3 points per encounter in the course of the Olympic tournament.

From 1997 to 2001 and between 2010 and 2012 Hadžić coached the Bosnian-Herzegovinian national team. In 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2011 he took part in the selection at the European Championships. At club level he worked from 1998 to 2000 as the coach of KK Bosna Sarajevo.

In mid-December 2001 he succeeded Tom Schneemans as coach of the German Bundesliga club Mitteldeutscher BC . He remained in office until the end of the 2002/03 season. In the 2003/04 season he worked as a coach in Saudi Arabia , where he was in charge of Al Ittihad. His following positions were: Dukagjini in Kosovo (2005), Al Jaala Aleppo in Syria (2005/06), Kepez Bid Antalya in Turkey  (2007 to 2009) and Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia (2010/11). From August 2014 to December 2014 he was the trainer of KB Sigal Prishtina (Kosovo) and then of Al Jahraa in Kuwait .

In February 2018, he suffered  a stroke in Antalya, Turkey, and died a few weeks later.
