Sachau is a district of the city of Bad Schmiedeberg in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Sachau is about six kilometers east of the old town of Bad Schmiedeberg and two kilometers south of the Bad Schmiedeberg district of Priesitz .
Sachau is located on the left partial slope of the Elbe glacial valley on the edge of the Dübener Heide nature reserve .
history
In 1388 the place was first mentioned as Sachaw . From July 1, 1950 to June 30, 2009, Sachau belonged as a district to the previously independent municipality of Priesitz and then became a district of Bad Schmiedeberg. Today it belongs to the village of Priesitz.
Culture and sights
The Sachau Church was consecrated by Martin Luther in 1522 .

In 1962 a long-distance waterworks was built in Sachau.
Sachau is located on the Elbe Cycle Route , which is used by cycle tourists every year. The place also has an inn.

Sachau is on federal highway 182 , which connects Wittenberg with Torgau . The Pretzsch – Torgau railway has a stop in Sachau, but this section has been closed.
