Things with Words is an independent literary magazine that is published every six months by Anneke Lubkowitz, Mena Koller, Theresa Lienau, Rosa Baumgartner and Laura Schlingloff.

history

Things with words were originally created as part of an ABV project seminar on cultural magazines, in which the participants were supposed to produce their own magazine. The FU students at the time, Lubkowitz and Lienau, developed a literary print magazine which, through its experimental character and deliberate amateurism, represents a counter-program to the current literary magazine landscape. After the first edition, the two decided to continue the magazine independently of their studies. From 2013 they were supported by Schlingloff and Koller, from 2016 by Rosa Baumgartner.

content

With illustrations by the Berlin artist Petrus Akkordeon and a clad-like grace, things with words create an unfinished and playful appearance, which at the same time reflects the program of the booklet. Texts by unknown authors are placed next to those of established female writers and combined under a thematic focus that represents a concept from everyday life such as breaks , haze , electricity, etc. The literary contributions are rounded off by interviews, columns and topic-specific thought games.

After all, things with words is also known for numerous readings, which means that it is not only considered a pure literary magazine, but also a series of events.

Authors

In addition to unknown contributors, well-known authors have also published texts on things with words such as u. a. Mikael Vogel , Martin Piekar , Jan Skudlarek , Ron Winkler , Lutz Steinbrück , Alexander Graeff , Birgit Kreipe , Sofie Lichtenstein , Sascha Kokot , Anna Hetzer and Kinga Tóth .
