Jan Skudlarek

Jan Skudlarek (* 1986 in Hamm ) is a German philosopher , non-fiction author and poet .

Live and act

Skudlarek grew up in North Rhine-Westphalia and Spain and moved to Mallorca with his parents in 1995 . He graduated from high school in Hamm in 2003. In 2004 he began studying philosophy and Hispanic studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and at the University of Madrid and in 2010 passed the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools. In 2015 he did his doctorate at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster on the subject of collective intentionality .

He has been literary since 2007 and received the 2008 Literature Prize from the Society for the Promotion of Westphalian Cultural Work. Since 2008 publication of individual poems and groups of poems in literary magazines and anthologies, etc. a. in the Neue Rundschau , randnummer, Edit and in Versnetze _drei. The poetry book erloschene finger appeared in the parasite press in 2010 . In November 2010 Skudlarek was a finalist at the 18th Open Mike of the Berlin Literature Workshop and a finalist in the Literary March 2011 in Darmstadt . In 2011 he received the Westphalian Promotion Prize for the Ernst Meister Prize for Poetry and in 2016 the Postpoetry Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

In 2017 Skudlarek's first non-fiction book The Rise of the Middle Finger was published by Rowohlt-Verlag . In 2019 he published another philosophical non-fiction book: Truth and Conspiracy, published by Reclam .

Jan Skudlarek lives in Berlin.
