Martin Piekar (born August 5, 1990 in Bad Soden am Taunus ) is a German-speaking Polish poet who lives in Germany .

Life

Piekar was born as a child of Polish immigrants in Bad Soden am Taunus, Hesse, and has only Polish citizenship. His parents fled the then People's Republic of Poland to the Federal Republic of Germany for political reasons in the 1980s . His father returned to his homeland after reunification .

By letter Piekar began already during his school days. He is currently studying philosophy and history at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and is a member of sexyunderground , a group of young authors from the Frankfurt literary house . Many of his poems have been published in literary magazines such as etcetera and Federwelt . In 2012 he took part in the Wolfenbüttel literature laboratory and won the prestigious open mike competition of the Berlin literature workshop in the poetry category.
