history

A written first mention of the place Sachsenhagen is proven for the period 1570/80, when the von Linsingen received a castle loan and four hooves to Sachsenhagen from the lords of Geisleden . In 1595 a dispute between the Electorate of Mainz Vogt Wagner and the bailiff of the Eichsfeld Leopold von Stralendorf over land in Sachsenhagen is mentioned. In the years 1664, 1747 and 1770 the von Linsingen are mentioned in documents in connection with the enfeoffments of Scharfenstein and Sachsenhagen.

In 1870 Christian and Genovefa Waldmann bought the Steinhagen farm. They renovated the building and in 1877 erected the Steinhagen Chapel at the Dünwald in honor of the fourteen helpers in need . Before that there was a cross with pictures of the Trinity and the Fourteen Holy Helpers. The arable and pasture areas were expanded to 75 hectares through purchase and lease; the right to hunt was also acquired.

The Steinhagen Chapel

In administrative terms, the farm belonged to Kreuzebra at this time, where the children also went to school, ecclesiastically it belonged to Geisleden and postally to Beuren .

After 1945, the Köhler family, who lived there, kept dairy cattle and pigs and farmed foals and sheep, were repeatedly subjected to state reprisals. The well-founded fear of being expropriated caused the family to flee to Lower Saxony on the night of December 30, 1949 . The property was then nationalized in 1950 and was inhabited by an administrator until 1958. The cultivation of the agricultural land was carried out from what was then Volksgut Beinrode.

From 1962 the yard was empty. This was used by the residents of the neighboring towns to remove everything that could be used. Today only remains of the foundations of the former estate are preserved.

After reunification , the descendants of the Köhler family got their property back in 1990. In 2010 the entire property was for sale and was acquired by Agrar-Gesellschaft mbH Kalteneber.
