The Heiligenberg is 493.6  m above sea level. NHN a mountain in the Dün in the Obereichsfeld in the northwest of Thuringia .

It is located within the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park in the western part of the Dün between the villages of Kreuzebra in the southeast, Geisleden in the southwest and Wingerode in the north. The district town of Heilbad Heiligenstadt is about six kilometers to the west.

The predominantly wooded mountain (mixed beech forest) can only be reached on foot via various hiking trails. At its northwestern foothills in the direction of Herrenberg there is a lookout point ( Schöne Aussicht ) with a refuge and a view of the middle Eichsfeld with the Zehnsberg , the Ohmgebirge and up to the Harz . South of the hilltop at the edge of the forest is the Steinhagen chapel on the site of the medieval settlement and today's deserted Sachsenhagen . The site, first mentioned in 1570/80, consisted of a courtyard that was demolished in the 1960s. Two shady trees and seating invite you to take a rest and view the Upper Eichsfeld .
