Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Christ King of the World ( Italian : Basilica Sacro Cuore di Cristo Re ) is a church in the Q.XV Della Vittoria district of Rome .

The church was planned and built by the architect Marcello Piacentini from 1919 to 1929 and 1931 to 1934 at the suggestion of the Dehonian father Ottavio Gasparri . It was inaugurated in 1934 and handed over to the Order of the Dehonians (Community of Sacred Heart Priests) for administration.

The church was established with the Apostolic Constitution Regis Pacifici by Pope Pius XI. declared a parish church on October 31, 1926. On February 5, 1965, the Apostolic Constitution Sacrum Cardinalium Collegium by Pope Paul VI. the appointment to the title diakonia of the Roman Catholic Church. A short time later, the church was raised to the rank of a basilica minor with the Motu proprio Recentioris architecturae .
