action
Mohan's mother desires dearly to finally have a daughter-in-law and Mohan's success as a professor of Hindi literature. That's why Mohan seeks advice from his shrewd neighbor Jeevan. Jeevan has the idea to hire a woman so that Mohan's mother can die in peace. All that remains for him is to agree to the proposal.
Jeevan turns to Champa, a courtesan who is only interested in money. He introduces her as Rajni and Mohan and his mother are delighted with her.
Now, as Rajni, Champa lives the life of a wife and becomes more and more enthusiastic about it, while she critically questions her existence as a courtesan.
When Mohan learns of her true identity, he contemptuously rejects her. Nevertheless, Champa manages to win him over because it was not her choice to work as a prostitute. Finally, the mother learns of the secret and cannot make friends with the idea of having a prostitute as a daughter-in-law. But Mohan convinces his mother, who then reconsiders her decision and accepts Champa as daughter-in-law.
