Safara is a place and a municipality Freguesia in Portugal in the district of Moura , with an area of 57.7 km² and 1078 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). This corresponds to a population density of 18.7 inhabitants / km². The area of the municipality was already settled by Celts . Later the Romans followed and the Moors also left their mark. Even the place name Safara comes from Arabic and has a connection with the landscape of the plateau on which this place is located, where names such as Monte das Medinas can also be found.
