Safia Hama Dschan

Safia Hama Dschan (* 1941 ; † September 25, 2006 in Kandahar ) was an Afghan teacher belonging to the Tajik people and a women's rights activist .

Life

Former teacher Safia Hama Dschan has been Kandahar Provincial Women's Representative since the Ministry of Women's Affairs was founded in 2002. Under the rule of the Taliban girls and women were strictly prohibited from going to school. With a series of measures, Hama Dschan ensured that Afghan girls and women were re-educated, which met with great commitment and enthusiasm among the students. Hama Dschan had opened six schools for girls and women in Kandahar alone, where 1,000 schoolgirls were already learning to bake and sell their goods on the market. She also taught them to use personal computers .

On the way to work, she was killed by two assassins with four shots in the head. In total, eyewitnesses report about three minutes of uninterrupted fire on the politician's car.
