Safy Boutella

Safy Boutella (born January 6, 1950 in Pirmasens ) is an Algerian jazz musician ( bass ), film composer and actor .

Life

Safy Boutella first went to school in Paris and Algiers before earning his bachelor's degree in music from the Berklee College of Music from 1975 to 1979 . He then worked as a professional musician in various jazz formations. He subsequently worked with singers like Cheb Khaled , with whom he recorded the studio album Kutché in 1988 . Boutella wrote the music for various films, such as B. for Rachid Bouchareb's film dramas Cheb - Flucht aus Afrika und Little Senegal or the 1999 feature film Mirka by Rachid Benhadj. He was an actor in various productions.

He is the father of the dancer and actress Sofia Boutella .
