SAGA Communications Inc. is a US media company and owns over 90 radio stations and a TV station in the United States. The company is based on the east coast of the USA. The company is based in Michigan . President and CEO is Ed Christian. The company was the seventh largest US media company in 2007 with 91 radio stations, based on the number of stations.

Saga owns radio stations in 24 radio markets from Milwaukee and Columbus to Portland , Maine and Billingham , Washington . Saga operates two television networks in Joplin, Montana and Victoria, Texas . Saga cooperates with all major networks such as ABC , NBC , CBS and Fox . The TV stations are tailored to local news.

history

The company founder and current CEO Christan was born in 1944 in the small town of St. Helen in Michigan. While in college, he worked in Roger City , Lansing, and Flint, as a weekend presenter and sales representative. After graduating from Wayne State University in 1966, he joined WCAR- AM-FM in Detroit .

Saga Communications was incorporated as a company in May 1986 and founded by Ed Christian. In 1986 he bought Josephson International's Radio Division for $ 38.5 million. This company existed since 1976 and was renamed Saga Communications. At the time of the takeover, the company owned three medium wave and five VHF stations.

In late 2015, Saga bought Classic Rock Station WLVQ , Columbus and expanded its dominant position in Columbus. The WSNY , WVMX , WNND and WNNP stations in the city also belong to Saga via Franklin Communications , Inc.
