The Saylyugem Mountains ( Russian Сайлюгем ) is a mountain range in southeastern Altai Mountains along the border between the Russian Republic of Altai and Mongolia .
The Sailjugem has a length of 130 km. It reaches a maximum height of 3502 m in Sary-Nochoit (Сары-Нохойт) . It forms the watershed between the headwaters of Argut and Tschuja (in the catchment area of the Ob ) and the tributaries of the Khovd Gol . In the east the mountain range is continued by the Tschichachev ridge . At the western end of the mountain range is the Tawan Bogd massif. The mountain range consists of limestone , sandstone , slate , pumice stone and tuff . Lichen vegetation and scree tundra are predominant in the high mountains . On the southern slopes below 2600 m , steppe vegetation grows on Kastanozem soils.
