The Khovd Gol ( Mongolian Ховд гол , also Kobdo ) is a river in western Mongolia .
The Chowd Gol rises on a glacier south of the Tawan Bogd massif in the Mongolian Altai . From there it first flows in a south-easterly direction. It flows through the lakes Choton Nuur and Churgan Nuur in the Altai Tawan Bogd National Park . He leaves the latter in a north-northeast direction, later turns to the east and passes the city of Ölgii . In the Achit Nuur Depression, the river turns south-southeast.
