history

Hostert's church was built between 1857 and 1859 after the old chapel in the cemetery (now a listed building) had become too small. In 1871 a statue of St. Cyriacus placed over the gate. In the church there is another statue of St. Cyriacus.

location

The church is located on Place Grande-Duchesse Charlotte at the intersection of the main street (lux .: Haaptstrooss ; French: Rue Principale ) with Rue de la Gare . It is built on a slope and rises clearly visible over the village.

Church building

The church building in neo-Gothic style with a gable roof is built in an east-west direction. It impresses with the simplicity of the lines and the six pointed arched windows on each side , which are located in the facade in slightly offset fields and are delimited by pilasters without a load-bearing function ( relief pillars ). The church tower to the east with a very simple pointed helmet forms an integral part of the nave and through this the main portal leads. The retracted choir is in the west.

The nave is largely white and is brightly lit through the windows. The simplicity of the outer lines is continued on the inside. The choir arch is also designed as a simple pointed arch without decorations. Both in the nave and in the choir there is a pointed arch vault , which is given an attractive architectural effect by the optical highlighting of the ribs .

The stained glass windows with ornaments in the church are by an unknown artist. The year of manufacture is partly unknown, partly 1900 or 1904

The original organ of the parish church, housed in a medium brown wooden case, was built in 1897 by the organ building workshop Gebrüder Müller from Reifferscheid and was donated by a private person. The organ had 10 stops on a manual and pedal. In 1984 a new organ was installed and inaugurated, incorporating the old case and the majority of the pipes from the previous organ that could still be used. The new organ was made by the organ builder Herbert Schmidt from Mersch . This organ still exists today.
