Salean A. Maiwald

Salean A. Maiwald (* 21 July 1948 as Angelika Maiwald in Wuppertal ) is a German writer and painter .

Life

Salean A. Maiwald grew up in Wuppertal, where she completed an apprenticeship as a legal assistant after elementary school and then worked as such. In 1972 she graduated from the evening grammar school in Stuttgart, after which she studied theology and psychology in Tübingen from 1972 to 1982 and took part in painting and printmaking courses at the drawing institute of the Eberhard Karls University . In 1990 she received her doctorate. phil. at the Free University of Berlin . Maiwald has been working as a freelance writer since 1982, but also worked as a painter until 2009. a. with numerous exhibitions in Germany, Greece and Israel.

Act

After her training as a poetry pedagogue at the Institute for Creative Writing at the Alice Salomon University in Berlin , which began in 1997 , Maiwald taught from 1999 to 2004 as a lecturer at the Akademie des Frauenforum für Kunst und Kultur e. V. in Leutkirch im Allgäu, courses for creative writing.

At the same time, she traveled several times to Israel to prepare a book project, where she interviewed Alice Schwarz-Gardos , founder of the German-language “ Israel-Nachrichten ”, Gabriel Bach , deputy prosecutor in the Eichmann trial and Jacob Pins , Painter and lecturer at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem.

Also from 1999 to 2009 Maiwald was a member of the Berlin artist group Meshulash , with whom she worked in numerous exhibitions including “Re-Generation” in the former Berlin Main Telegraph Office (2002), “Mendel's Sons & Daughters” in the Jewish Community Hall (2004), “Eden sucht Eden ”in Stadtbad Oderberger Straße (2006) and“ Scapegoat ”in the Centrum Judaicum (2007) and was also a member of the editorial team of the European Jewish magazine GOLEM , published by Meshulash from 1999 to 2002 .

In addition, from 2000 to 2007 she also led the round table discussions on German-Jewish dialogue in the Berlin “ alpha nova-cultural workshop & galerie futura ”.
