Salem Eid Yaqoob Yaqoob (born March 1, 1996 ) is a Bahraini sprinter of Nigerian origin.

Athletic career

For the first time at an international championship, Salem Eid Yaqoob appeared at the 2015 Arab Championships in Manama . There he was sixth in the 100-meter run and won the bronze medal over 200 meters in 20.82 s. He then reached eighth place over 100 meters at the World Military Games in Mungyeon, South Korea, and made it to the semi-finals in the 200-meter run . The following year he qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he reached the semi-finals with a new national record of 20.19 s and was eliminated there with 20.43 s. In 2017 he won silver in the 200 meters and gold with the Bahraini 4 x 100 meter relay at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku . In addition, he finished fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 11.11 min. With his performances he also qualified for the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated in the first round over 200 meters with 20.84 s .

In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and won the bronze medal there in 20.55 s behind the Japanese Yūki Koike and the Taiwanese Yang Chun-han . The following year he won the silver medal with the relay at the Arab Championships in Cairo and finished fourth over 200 meters. Shortly afterwards he won the bronze medal behind the Chinese Xie Zhenye and the Japanese Koike at the Asian Championships in Doha in 20.84 s .
