Xie Zhenye ( Chinese  謝 震 業  /  谢 震 业 , Pinyin Xiè Zhènyè; born August 17, 1993 in Keqiao ) is a Chinese sprinter .

Athletic career

Xie Zhenye gained his first international experience at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he won the gold medal in the 200-meter run in 21.22 seconds and was fifth in the mixed sprint relay. Two years later he also won the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo in 21.15 s over 200 meters and won the silver medal in the 100-meter run in 10.54 s. He qualified for the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where he finished eighth over 100 meters in 10.49 s and fifth over 200 meters in 20.66 s. He also took part in the Olympic Games in London for the first time over 200 meters and was eliminated there with 20.69 s in the first round . In 2013 he won the Asian Championships over this distance and secured the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay, but again did not get past the first round at the World Championships in Moscow . At the 2014 IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas , he took third place with the 4 x 100 meter relay in the B final, while he came seventh with the 4 x 200 meter relay. In October he won the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, in the 4 x 100 meter relay and set a new national record over 200 meters with 20.74 s in the run-up, but was disqualified in the semifinals due to a false start.

At the IAAF World Relays 2015 he was disqualified with the 4 x 200 meter relay and did not make it to the finals with the 4 x 100 meter relay. Over 100 meters he finished fourth at the Asian Championships in Wuhan in 10.25 s and qualified over 200 meters again for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was disqualified in the preliminary run . In the 4 x 100 meter relay competition , he won the silver medal behind the team from Jamaica in 38.01 s. In the run-up, the Chinese quartet with the line-up Mo Youxue , Xie, Su Bingtian and Zhang Peimeng set an Asian record with 37.92 seconds. In 2016, Xie finished fourth in the 60-meter run in 6.53 s at the World Indoor Championships in Portland and qualified over 100 meters for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated in the semi- finals with 10.11 s . In addition, he came fourth with the Chinese relay in 37.90 seconds in the final . At the IAAF World Relays 2017 , he won the bronze medal with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 39.22 seconds. At the World Championships in London he reached the semi-finals over 100 meters , in which he was eliminated with 10.28 s. As with the Olympic Games, he came fourth with the relay. The following year he was fourth again at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham with 6.52 s.

In 2019 he won his second continental title at the Asian Championships in Doha with 20.33 s and was disqualified in the relay in the final. At the end of September he took part again in the World Championships in Doha and was eliminated in the semifinals over 100 meters with 10.14 s , while he finished seventh in the final over 200 meters in 20.14 s . He was also used in the season in advance.

In 2012, 2014 and 2015, Xie became the Chinese champion in the 200-meter run and in 2014 and 2017 also over 100 meters.
